An unclichéd game of two similar halves

The expression 'a game of two halves' is a cliché beloved of football commentators, but surprisingly doesn't have a clear source. I expected to find it was a favorite phrase of some famous football manager, or at very least from a comedian's caricature impression of one. The phrase usually means the halves were allegedly very different in character. However, this sunset did not have a first half and a second halve, but it did have a left half and a right half as seen above. The part in the middle was just clear blue sky: both photographs were taken within seconds of each other from the same viewpoint.

The dish was a zingy & spicy Thai Sweet Potato Stew from a recipe in the 'Forks Over Knives' cookbook. It was chosen as an answer for those, like us, who find sweet potatoes too sweet and slightly gooey—adding melted butter does not help in the latter department. My darling companion saw me preparing the sunset photographs and uncharacteristically noted that while I was out enjoying myself she was slaving over a hot stove making my dinner, but that was not a problem because she would be able to come here and enjoy the pictures later, when she had finished all her duties. Saucy wench!
