Timing may be of the essence
In the morning, an ever increasing number of rain clouds came over the hill, so timing my walk etc…
Throughout the afternoon there was extensive cloud cover, but about 5pm some big, blue rips appeared in the sky and the sun broke through at an earlier time than I usually go for a walk. However, when deciding what steps to take when the sun shines, always make sure they are big ones! This spikey plant is usually shaded when I set off for a walk, but this evening it was catching the last rays of the sun before slipping into the shadows.
Could anyone doubt that the Silk tree (Albizia julibrissin) is a member of the pea family (Fabaceae or Leguminosae)?
Available in a range of attractive colors, complete with Autumn foliage if required.
After noticing the number "25" on the streetlamps last night, today I realized just how many things in our urban environment are numbered or coded. Everyone knows about 'tacmars' (tactical markers aka 'tackmarks'), those secret military codes on road signs: the Spacelady will explain in detail if you visit her weblog. Be sure to follow her links. On another site I saw the comment: "There was a lot of this stuff going on in northern Ohio back in the 90's [sic]. We even checked with the county to ask why and they acted like they knew nothing for the most part even though the signs belonged to them! They adamantly refused to elaborate!" When people feign ignorance and refuse to elaborate then you know you are onto something BIG! That PacifiCorp sign may not be part of a plot to subdue the population during an invasion of aliens from outer space, which is probably why they chose not to call themselves 'Pacify Corps'. However, can someone tell me—if that name derives from 'Pacific Power'—what is the connection to an 'Orp' and how is a 'Smorn' different?
High up above there were some really active weather systems at work.
Brave souls from the nearby 'airport community' (houses with hangars AND garages) were even flying around in light aircraft.
Below, it was just a peaceful neighborhood Sunday evening. I declare it the first day of Fall.
