Afternoon delight

Somebody once said that once you have seen one sunset picture you have seen them all. I think that may have been me. So I determined, against veterinarian orders, to brave the afternoon sun rather than wait until evening. Mad dogs, etc. Suitably attired, I ventured out into the mid-October sunshine, mildly surprised—no pun intended—to find that the temperature was 65°F (18.3°C) according to the reports I checked later. It felt warmer and 75°F (23.9°C) is forecast for tomorrow. The cap I was wearing did more duty as a lens hood than it did as a solar radiation protector, seemingly without incident in either usage. First order of business was to revisit the grasses I had photographed earlier in the week: how had I missed those flowers?

This plant was crawling with wasps and that large green beetle would have been a close-up but I could not physically get any closer.

If that is Winter wheat (Triticum aestivum) Wikipedia says it will be ready to harvest in early July. Really? That long?

The heilk moon was too good to pass up, even with the overhead clutter. OK?
