Sunday, Sunday

I was adding material to my forthcoming Mance Lipscomb archive, when I stumbled upon this website:

I was digging around and found the liner notes for one of the Lipscomb albums in the archive. Astounding! I am almost embarrassed to offer the next link: the interface is worse than Myspace and some of the content is truly appalling.

However, among the dirt there are gems like this:

Blind Arthur Blake

…and a walk-through of the Texas Music Museum in Austin. When did you last hear a duet between a Wurlitzer and a grand piano playing 'Be My Little Baby Bumble-Bee' and 'Shine on Harvest Moon' (Andrew Barrett (piano) and Itichai Tiemsanjai (organ) recorded in an Old Time Music Hall) or Crazy Otto jangling the keys for 'Paddlin' Madelin' Home'.

It's all down to using the on-site search engine creatively. It seems to be an interface to YouTube but the happenstance factor seems higher and the linking is broader.

Still plenty of monsoon weather hereabouts. The mountain that usually forms our western horizon was buried under a mass of cloud earlier this evening, although after heavy rain overnight we had plenty of sunshine breaking through during the day. I hope you received your share. The heat and humidity are uncomfortable, but it makes a nice change from eternal sunshine. My haughty privately educated buddy once asked me rhetorically if anything could possibly be worse than the sun shining all the time—the answer, of course, is that the rain raining, the wind howling, and the cold chilling the bone to the marrow is much worse.
